Ch 8, join with sl st to first ch to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, work 16 sc into ring, sl st to first sc-16 sts. Do not turn at end of this or any foll rnds.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 1 sc in same sp as ch 1, 3 times, ch 7, skip 3 sts, sl st to first sc.
Rnd 3: Sl st in next 3 ch, ch 3 (counts as 1 dc) 1 dc into same ch-7 sp, * work (ch 3, 2dc) into same sp, ch 3, work 2 dc tog as foll: yo and draw up lp in same ch-7 sp (3 lps on hook), yo and draw through first 2 lps on hook, yo and draw up lp in next ch-7 sp, yo and through first 2 lps on hook, yo and through rem 3 lps on hook, ch 3, 2 dc into same ch-7 sp; rep from * 3 times, omitting 2 dc at end of last rep, sl st to top of beg ch 3.
Rnd 4: Sl st into next dc and ch-3 sp, ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc into same ch-3 sp, *work (ch 3, 2 dc) into same sp, ch 3, skip 2 dc, 3 dc into next ch-3 sp, 1 dc in between 2 dc worked tog, 3 dc into next ch-3 sp, ch 3, skip 2 dc, 2 dc into next ch-3 sp; rep from * 3 times, omitting 2 dc at end of last rep, sl st to top of beg ch 3.
Rnd 5: Sl st into next dc and ch-3 sp, ch 3, 2 dc into same ch-3 sp, *work (ch 3, 3 dc) into same sp, ch 5, skip (2 dc, ch 3, 1 dc) 1 dc into each of next 5 dc, ch 5, skip (1 dc, ch 3, 2 dc), 3 dc into next ch-3 sp; rep from * 3 times, omitting 3 dc at end of last rep, sl st to top of beg ch 3.
Rnd 6: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc into each of next 2 dc, *work (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) into next ch-3 sp, 1 dc into each of next 3 dc, ch 5, skip (5 ch and 1 dc), 1 dc into each of next 3 dc, ch 5, skip (1 dc and 5 ch), 1 dc into each of next 3 dc; rep from * 3 times, omitting 3 dc at end of last rep, sl st to top of beg ch 3. Fasten off.

FINISHING:
Sew square tog to form rectangle 6 squares wide by 7 squares tall.
Border: Rnd 1 Join yarn to corner ch-3 sp. Ch 3 and work evenly around in dc, working 3 dc in each corner ch-3 sp, 1 dc in each dc and 3 dc in each ch-5 sp. Join with sl st to top of beg ch 3. Do not turn work at end of this or any foll rnds.
Rnd 2: Ch 5, *skip 2 dc, 1 dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in ech of next 3 dc, ch 2; rep from * around, end sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 5.
Rnd 3: Ch 3 and work evenly around in dc, working 3 dc in each corner, 1 dc in each dc and 2 dc in each ch-2 sp.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, 1 sc in next dc, *ch 3, skip 2 dc, 1 sc in next dc; rep from * to corner (adjusting as necessary), in corner work twice; rep from * around, end sl st to first sc.
Rnd 5: Sl st into first ch-3 sp, *ch 6, sl st to 4th ch from hook to form picot, ch 2, 1 sc into next ch-3 sp; rep from * around. Fasten off.


AFGHAN (made up of 35 squares)

SQUARE
Using MC, ch 21.
Row 1 Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across (20 sc).
Row 2 Ch 1, turn. Sc in each sc across. Rep Row 2 for 5”. Change to CC and work for 3” more. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Sew squares tog invisibly as per ASSEMBLY DIAGRAM below.

BORDER
With MC, attach yarn in any corner. Work in sc for 2 rnds, working 3 sc in each corner each rnd.
