Here's a short version, since I'm sure there are versions of my story posted all over this board.
Started ttc at 33. 6 months later went in for basic round of b/w at OB/GYN- my CD3 FSH 45. Referred to an RE, but told by my OB that I would probably never have bio children. RE said chances are slim, but let's try IVF as long as you want to. FSH at some point went up to CD3 52!
4 Rounds of IVF:
IVF 1- 3 follicles, 1 5-cell embryo, BFN
IVF 2- 3 follicles, no eggs
IVF 3- 4 follicles, 2 mature eggs, 2 embryos, arrested day of transfer (no transfer)
IVF 4 (our last try before we decided to go to DE)- 5 follicles, 5 eggs, 3 mature, 3 8-cell embies transferred, TWIN GIRLS
You need to do what's right for you. Go to DE when you feel you are ready, not because it's easier for an RE. The DE option will ALWAYS be there for you, so don't feel like you have to rush into anything.
Also, like many of the ladies on this board, I did acupuncture, yoga, diet changes, herbal supplements (when I wasn't actively in an IVF cycle), meditation and prayer. It's Western medicine (and I believe God) that got me pg, but I think all of the other stuff really got my body as healthy as it could be to RESPOND to the treatment.
