فعلا فالدواء قد تم ايقافه في دولة الامارات..ومنع اعطاؤه للاطفال دون سن السنتين..
وهذا الدواء يستخدم لعلاج انواع كثيرة من الحساسية..كحساسية الجلد..والحكة..وسيلان الانف..ونزلات البرد..والعطاس..وحساسية الاعين بوجود الحكة وكثرة الدموع..وانواع من الطفح الجلدي المصحوب بحكة..
وكذلك يعطى لتهدئة الطفل والمساعدة على تنييمه..وفي حالات التقئؤ الشديد..وبعد العمليات كمسكن..وللدوار الناتج عن ركوب السيارة او الطائرة..
اسمه العلمي Promethazine..وهو من مضادات الهستامين..
وله اكثر من منتج..
منها: Phensedyl, Phenergan, Rhinathiol .. Histaloc.
كل الادوية السابقة الذكر..يمنع اعطاؤها للاطفال تحت سن السنتين..بغض النظر عن الجرعة المعطاه..وذلك لتاثيراتها السيئة الخطيرة على الجهاز التنفسي..وتعطى للاكبر سنا مع التحفظ الشديد جدا خااصة عند استخدام الاطفال لادوية اخرى ذات تاثيرات على الجهاز التنفسي معها..

Govt bans drugs causing breathing woes to kids
ABU DHABI: Health authorities have banned the consumption of the anti-hista- mine drug known as 'Promethazine' for causing respiratory prob- lems in children that proved to be fatal.
The General Authority for Health Services for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi (GHAS) has warned all hospitals and health facilities in the emirate against dispensing the promethazine, used to treat allergic symptoms and reactions such as itching, runny nose; sneezing; itchy, watery eyes; hives; and itchy skin rashes for children below two years old, regardless of the prescribed dose.
Promethazine is also used to cause sedation (sleep), to assist in controlling post-operative pain, to control nausea, and vomiting (especially after surgery), and to prevent motion sickness. In a circular issued to health institutions, the authority cautioned that for children in the age group of two years and above, doc- tors should be very careful in prescribing the drug, especially for patients who are taking in other medications, known for its effects on the respiratory system.
The authority advised consumption of the lowest dose required when prescribed or exchanging it with other more safe drugs. It also pointed out that it is not advisable to use anti-vomiting medicines in cases of minor vomiting cases in children, and that it is preferable to confine consumption of these drugs to contin- uous, diagnosed vomiting cases. For his part, Dr Mohammed Abu Al Khair, drug expert at GHAS and Chairman of the Drug and Therapy Committee said Promethazine is available in different names including Phensedyl, Phenergan, Rhinathiol and Histaloc.
Medical experts advise that if the person experiences one of the possible side-effects of promethazine, mainly an allergic reac- tion (difficulty in breathing; closing of throat; swelling of lips, tongue, or face; hives), uncontrollable movements of eyes, lips, tongue, face, arms, or legs; or yellowing of skin or eyes or abdominal pain, medication should be stopped immediately and the person should seek emergency medical attention.
