Students work in fields unrelated to area of study By Bassam Za'za', Staff Reporter Published: October 25, 2007, 23:35 Dubai: The majority of one million students who graduate from Arab universities each year work in fields irrelevant to what they studied, said a top academician. "Unfortunately, we have one million university graduates, each year, who work in domains which are different to what they studied. We aim to reach a stage where Arab universities start graduating proficient and capable students ... We are aiming to discuss that phenomena during the 11th Conference of the Arab Ministers of Higher Education which will be held at Zayed University (ZU) next week," said Dr Sulaiman Al Jasem, Zayed University's Vice-President. Patronage Under the patronage and attendance of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Conference will be opened by Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and ZU's President on November 5 at the Dubai Campus. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research organised the conference in cooperation with the Arab League for Education, Culture and Science Organisation (ALESCO). "ZU will host the conference as part of its celebrations of the 10th Anniversary," Dr Al Jasem told a media gathering yesterday. Dubai: The majority of one million students who graduate from Arab universities each year work in fields irrelevant to what they studied, said a top academician.
"Unfortunately, we have one million university graduates, each year, who work in domains which are different to what they studied.
