وقالت وزارة التجارة الأمريكية في أول تقدير لها بشان الناتج المحلي الإجمالي خلال الربع الثالث إن الاقتصاد نما بمعدل سنوي بلغ 3.5 بالمئة وهي أسرع وتيرة نمو منذ الربع الثالث من عام 2007 وذلك بعد أن انكمش 0.7 بالمئة خلال الفترة بين ابريل نيسان ويونيو حزيران.
وجاءت وتيرة نمو الناتج المحلي الإجمالي - الذي يقيس إجمالي إنتاج البضائع والخدمات داخل الولايات المتحدة - أعلى من توقعات السوق عند نمو بنسبة 3.3 بالمئة. وكانت أحدث مرة سجل فيها الاقتصاد نموا في الربع الثاني من عام 2008.
وكان الانتعاش الذي سجله الاقتصاد في الربع الثالث واسع النطاق وعززته مكاسب قوية في معدل انفاق المستهلكين والصادرات والاستثمارات في الأعمال ال****ئية للمنازل.
