I want to write some tenses about simple past & past continuous(progressive), I brought them from the exercises of book but I didn't find correct answers ,:44: pleas correct my answers.
Use the simple past or past progressive of the verbs in parentheses.
1- I don't want to the zoo today because it is raining. The same thing happened yesterday. I(want, not ) didn't want to go to the zoo because it (rain ) was raining.
2- I (call) called Roger at nine last night, but he (be , not) didn't be at home. He (study) was studying at the library.
3-I (hear , not ) didn't hear the thunder during the storm last night because I (sleep ) was sleeping.
4-It was beautiful yesterday when we went for a walk in the park. The sun (shine) was shining . A cool breeze (blow ) was blowing . The birds (sing) ware singing .
5- My brother and sister (argue) argued about something when I (walk ) was walking into the room.
6-I got a package in the mail. When I (open)was opening it , I (find ) found a surprise.
7-While Mrs. Emerson (read ) was reading the little boy a story, he (fall ) fell asleep, so she (close) closed the book and quietly (tiptoe )tiptoed out of the room.
8- A: Why weren't you at meeting?
B: I (wait) was waiting for an overseas call from my family.
9- A: (you, hear )Did you hear what she just said?
B: No, I (listen, not ) didn't listen. I (think ) was thinking about something else.
10- A: How (you, break ) did you break your arm?
B: I (slip) slipped on the ice while I (cross) was crossing the street in front of the dorm.
11- A: I'm sure you met Carol Jones at the party last night.
B: I don't remember her.What (she, wear ) was she wearing?
12-It was first day of class. I (find, finally) found finally the right room. The room (be, already ) was already full of students. On one side of the room, students (talk, busily )ware talking busily to each other in Spanish. Other students (speak) ware speaking Japanese, and some (converse) ware conversing in Arabic. It sounded like the United Nations. Some of the students, however, (sit, just ) just set quietly by themselves. I (choose) chose an empty seat in the last row and (sit ) set down. In a few minutes, the teacher (walk ) walked into the room and all the multilingual conversation (stop) stopped.
13- I really enjoyed my vacation last January. While it (snow ) was snowing in Toronto, the sun (shine) shone in Florida. While you (shovel) ware shoveling snow in Iowa, I (lie ) lay on the beach in Florida.
