Using the template on the following page, cut out plastic brim form, insert and sew together(the brim decreases make a little flap to hold it). Some small changes in the size of the insert will probably be required depending on gauge. Add a pom pom to finish off, if desired.
NO SPIRAL OF THE FPDC PATTERN
Some folks have reported difficulty getting the spiral design to show up. They get spokes in the fpdc pattern. This is due to misreading the beginning of row 3 and subsequent rows. As stated, the first fpdc is worked in the next dc which is the chain 3 of the row below into which you just ss ed (new verb form) followed by the ch3. The ch3 now becomes the dc behind the fpdc. This makes the first dc/fpdc increase. The next dc is done into the fpdc in the row below as a normal dc. The next dc and Fpdc is made into the dc behind the next fpdc. NEVER DO A FPDC AROUND THE FPDC OF THE ROW BELOW. That one always gets a dc only. It will be the next dc that gets a dc into and a fpdc around. With that it is impossible not to get a spiral.
