In this play, the writer is trying to say that men and women complete each other and that life can not continue with one of them, humanity will stop existing, that is the one and only result. We could say that Lucinda has stopped sharing humans this world since the repentance of the colonel 25 years ago.1- she refused allowing men to her house from that day men from the other half of the world. 2- she has created her own world in her imagination. So she is out of the world. The colonel, after being refused the first time, leave his land and nation to a strange one for him, a strange step out of a hopeless man. After 25 years he leaves India and a very successful life on the hope that L50 rear. Lucinda accepts him, a strange step out of a hopeful man. Helen and Susan are getting happier because of their successful relations with their men. The relations of the two halves (men and women) are the energy of life. A successful relation leads to a successful life. The happiness of Helen and Susan is met by the sadness of Lucinda and the colonel. It is true that Lucinda is 50 and Helen is 23. but don’t forget that Lucinda has been like that since she was 25, the year in which she has destroyed her life with the colonel.
