
Newborn Adjustable Hat
(A"grow with me " hat!)
(When other hats are just too big, this one fits just right! )
Note: You can weave the tie into any of the eyelet rows to adjust to fit the head.
Materials: Worsted weight yarn, about 1 ounce, or about 50 yards.
1 - 16 inch circular needle, size 8, plus a crochet hook size G or H for tie.
Gauge: 9 sts = 2 inches m 5 rows = 1 inch
Directions: With circular needle, cast on 50 sts. Place a marker to indicate beg of rnd.
Knit around until about 3 ½ inches from beg. (let the bottom curl up as it wants to).
Start eyelet row pattern: Slip marker, start at beg of round:
· *K 3, YO, K 2 tog* repeating between *'s around. K around for next 5 rounds.
· Repeat these 6 rounds 3 more times, for a total of 4 eyelet rounds.
· K 2 more rounds, then bind off in knit st.
Fasten off, weave in yarn ends.
Tie: With crochet hook, make a chain about 19 inches long. Fasten off.
Weave tie in and out of any of the eyelet hole rows.
Pull to gather in, and tie in a bow.
*This makes a quick to knit, last minute gift for a new baby! Make several in different colors!
* If desired, weave ribbon lengths in and out around remaining eyelet holes for a decorative look
