Row 1) Ch 13; hdc in 3rd ch from hook (first 2 ch skipped count as first hdc); hdc in each ch across, dropping old color on last st and picking up new red starting with a 7" tail: 12 hdc. (Do not end off green). Fasten off and secure beginning tail on rose bottom.
Rose: (Using red or rose)
Row 1) Ch 4, turn work; trc in same st, (2 trc) in each hdc across: 24 trc. Fasten off, secure ending tail.
Finishing:
With rose right wrong side facing (next to last side worked is the wrong side), roll up in a spiral, jelly roll style. Thread tapestry needle with beg 7" tail and tack to scure. Fasten off; secure ends.
Stem & Leaves: (Using green)
Insert hook in bottom of rose and hook the yarn (green), and pull through; ch 25, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, sl st in base of rose bottom, (working on opposite side of ch), sl st part way down the stem (use photo as a guide for leaf placement); * ch 6, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next st, (hdc, dc) in next ch, (dc, hdc) in next ch, sc in next ch, sl st in next st on stem (first leaf made),* sl st around the stem to the opposite side for second leaf placement (refer to photo); rep from * to * once (second leaf made). Fasten off; secure ends
