I designed and made these socks recently as a belated Christmas present for Colin, my future brother-in-law. He will not be able to wear them until next winter, because aran weight yarn plus cables make for a very cosy sock! I adapted the cable pattern from a tank top I made for my nephew – the Train Track Slip-Over from Miss Bea’s Rainy Day by Louisa Harding (Rowan).
Any questions about the pattern, just let me know.
Materials
150g of Sport by Bergere de France (51% wool 49% acrylic).
50g = 98yds/90m.
3.5mm circular needle (80cm long).
Size
Man’s medium – approx 10″ circumference, but there is plenty of stretch due to the nature of the pattern. I knit a foot length of 10″ and had about half of the third skein left. For a woman’s sock cast on 48 stitches, but heel flap pattern would also need adjustment.
Cuff
Cast on 56 stitches, 28 on each needle
