I think maybe 'apron' would be a better word..

i check that in my dictionary and i find
bib a piece of cloth under a child's chin .
apron a piece of cloth or fabric worn over the front part of the body
and tied round the waist to keep one's clothes clean.
pinafore a loose garment without sleeves,
worn over clothes to keep them clean.
