Materials: small amount of Color A (I used dusty or country blue); small amount of Color B (I used off white);
Size H crochet hook
Finished Size: 6" (for larger size, see NOTE below)
Rnd 1: with Color A, ch 6, join with sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 4, dc in ring, (ch 1, dc in ring) 6 times, ch 1, join with sl st to 3rd ch of ch 4 (8 ch sps). First ch 4 counts as first dc and ch 1.
Rnd 2: Sl st into sp, ch 3, 4 dc in same sp, take hook out of lp of 4th dc and put it in top of ch 3, then back in lp of 4th dc, yo, pull through lp and st, (ch 3, 5 dc in next ch sp, take hook out of 5th dc and put it in first dc of group, then back in lp of 5th dc, yo, pull through lp and st) 7 times, ch 3, join to first st. Fasten off.
Rnd 3: With off white (color B), join with sl st into any sp, ch 6, dc in same sp, *5 dc in next sp, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next sp; repeat from * 2 more times, 5 dc in next sp, join in 3rd ch of ch 6.
Rnd 4: Sl st into sp, ch 3, dc in same sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, *dc in next 7 sts, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in sp; repeat from * 2 more times, dc in next 7 sts, join in top of ch 3. Fasten off.
Rnd 5: With Color A, join with sl st in first st, ch 4, *(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next sp, (ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc) 5 times, ch 1; repeat from * 2 more times, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next sp, (ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc) 4 times, ch 1, join in 3rd ch of ch 4. Fasten off.
Rnd 6: With off white (color B), join with sl st in first st, ch 3, dc in ch-1 sp, *, (dc in next sp, dc in next st) 5 times, dc in next sp; repeat from * 2 more times; repeat between , (dc in next sp, dc in next st) 4 times, dc in next sp, join in top of ch 3.
Rnd 7: Ch 1, sc in each st around with (2 sc, ch 1, 2 sc) in corners, join to first sc. Fasten off.
NOTE: Before starting round 7, I measure my square. If it measures 5 1/2 inches I use the Rnd 7 above. If it only measures 5 inches, I make Rnd 7 in dc's with (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) for corners. You can even add another dc round to make it 7 inches.
