1 ball size 10 crochet cotton
size 3 (1)(if you crochet very tightly like I do)
and 5 (3) steel crochet hooks
spool of sewing thread to match crochet cotton
1/4 inch ribbon or lace 32 inches long
With size 3 crochet hook and using size 10
crochet cotton, ch 32
Row1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc across,
ch1, turn.
Rows 2-27 work in lowest of two loops
of each stitch only.
Row2: sc in next 15 sts, sc2 in next loop,
sc1 in each of next 15 sts, ch1, turn.
Row3: sc1, dec1, sc across to set of 2sc, sc3 in
the second loop of 2 center sc, sc across dec
1sc one st before last st of row, ch1,turn.
Row4: sc across to center 3sc, in middle of 3sc,
sc2, sc the rest of the way across, ch1, turn.
Rows5-21: Repeat Rows3and4
At the end of Row21, turn the corner and sc
across the side of the 20 rows, ch16, turn.
Row22: Sc in 2nd chain from hook. Sc across
row to next corner, (remembering to work in
lowest of two loops for each st) sc3 in next
sc to make corner, then work in pattern to
opposite corner. Sc3 at corner st, and work
1sc in side of each row to the end, ch15, turn.
Row23: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc to corner,
sc3 in corner loop to turn. (remembering to
work in lowest of two loops for each st)
Then work in pattern across sc3 in end corner,
sc down the opposite side, ch1,turn.
**Remember to keep working in the same pattern
as in rows 3-21**
Rows24-27: Repeat Row23
At the end of row 27, after turning, sc back
across row to first corner.
Tie off and break yarn.
Still using same hook and same yarn, reattach
yarn to inside corner of bib using a sl st.
TRIM
Row1: ch6, sk 2sc, dtc in next st, ch2, sk 2 sc,
dtc in next st
Follow this pattern the rest of the way
around. Turn.
Row2: Sl st in ch2 sp, (ch3, trc2, ch2, trc3
all in same ch2 sp), sc in next ch2 sp,
*(trc3,ch2,trc3 in same ch2 sp), sc1 in next
ch2 sp* repeat * to * all the way around
to opposite corner.
Tie off and break yarn.
If desired, using size 5 hook and sewing thread,
sc all the way around bib working 4 sc in each ch2 sp.
Tie off and break thread.
Weave ribbon in and out of dtc's and sew on each
end to keep it in place.
