Bind off using the k2tog method as follows: Working in a slightly looser gauge, knit two stitches from the left hand needle on to the right hand needle. Slip these stitches back to the left hand needle one stitch at a time. Knit the two stitches together. *Knit the next stitch. Slip these stitches back to the left hand needle one stitch at a time. Knit the two stitches together. Repeat from * until there is one stitch remaining. Break off the yarn and pull it through the loop. This bind off will give the edge of the shawl a subtle ruffle.
Weave in all ends. Use the tail at the center of the shawl to close any gap.
Wash and block.
