Women may join Community Police

JEDDAH - The Ministry of Interior is planning to incorporate the community police into security forces, Arabic language daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat quoted Public Security Chief Lieutenant General Saeed Al-Qahtani as saying.

He also did not rule out the possibility of employing women in the community police.
He said the community police would not mean the dismantling of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.

"The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Public Security, and the Commission are mutually supportive and the Commission's role cannot be bypassed or abolished in any way", he said.

Reporting on the event, Al-Hayat Arabic language daily said women can always opt to join the ranks of the community police as volunteers.

Arabic daily Al-Watan quoted Al-Qahtani as saying that women's contribution to the community police is essential by virtue of the existence of problems which only women can deal with.

Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Interior, will open in Riyadh a four-day "Security is Everyone's Responsibility" symposium next Sunday.

With the participation of 40 researchers Shariah law scholars, social researchers, security experts and media figures, the symposium will highlight the role of the new community police.

Director of Public Security, Lieutenant General Saeed Al-Qahtani said in a press conference, held in the headquarters of the Public Security Wednesday Prince Naif wants to raise the level of security in its broadest sense. "The symposium will come out on the role of public security in the community, which is not only the responsibility of preparing the security men, but extends to include exhibitions, symposiums aimed at the service of the security of the homeland and the citizen, residents and spreading the concept of community security and security awareness," Qahtani said.

He explained that during the symposium, many important papers about community police would be discussed.

Qahtani added that the theme of the seminar stresses the importance of joint efforts between citizens and the security services as an integrated security system for achieving common security objectives.

"Security is a shared responsibility and not limited to the concerned security departments," he said.

The seminar aims to strengthen social work in policemen.

"Neighborhood community police stations will be a branch of the Public Security, and there will be no change. What will be developed will be in the light of recommendations of the symposium," he said.

احتمالية انضمام النساء للشرطة المجتمعية

جدة - نقلا ً عن جريدة الشرق الاوسط العربية أوضح مدير الامن العام الفريق سعيد القحطاني أن وزارة الداخلية تدرس حالياً إدراج «الشرطة المجتمعية» ضمن صفوف قوات الأمن. كما أنه لم ينفي احتمالية توظيف النساء في الشرطة المجتمعية .
فيما أشار إلى أن دخول هذا النوع من اجهزة حفظ الامن لا يعني إلغاء دور هيئة الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر. مشدداً على أن وزارة الداخلية ممثلة ً بجهاز الأمن العام و جهاز الهيئة يقدمان دعماً متبادلا ً ولا يمكن تجاوز أو إلغاء دور الهيئة بأي شكل من الأشكال.

و تعليقا ً على الموضوع أوضحت صحيفة الحياة اليومية أن التساء يمكنهن دائما اختيار الانضمام الى مراتب الشرطة المجتمعية و العمل كمتطوعات .
كما وضحت صحيفة الوطن نقلا ً عن القحطاني ان مشاركة النساء ضرورية بفضل وجود مشاكل لا يستطيع احد غير النساء التعامل معها.

كما سيفتتح الامير نايف بن عبدالعزيز ندوة الامن مسؤولية الجميع الاحد المقبل و ستستمر الندوة لمدة اربعة ايام .
و سوف تلقي الندوة الضوء على الجهاز الامني الجديد و ذلك بمشاركة اربعون عالما من علماء الشريعة و علماء الاجتماع وخبراء أمنيين و شخصيات اعلامية .

كما قال مدير الامن العام الفريق سعيد القحطاني في مؤتمر ٍ صحافي اقيم الأربعاء في اجتماع القمة الرباعية للأمن العام أن الامير نايف يريد ان يرفع مستوى الامن بمعناه الشامل و العام.
و اضاف القحطاني بأن الندوة ستعلن عن دور الامن العام في المجتمع و الذي لا يقتصر دوره على تدريب رجال الامن بل يمتد ليشمل اقامة العروض ، الندوات التي تهدف الى خدمة أمن المواطن و المقيم ، و نشر مفهوم الشرطة المجتمعية و الوعي الامني .

كما اوضح القحطاني انه ستتم مناقشة اوراق مهمة بخصوص الشرطة المجتمعية خلال الندوة . و بأن موضوع الندوة يشدد على اهمية تظافر الجهود بين المواطنين و الخدمات الامنية كنظام ٍ امني مشترك لتحقيق اهداف امنية عامة .

كما قال ان الامن هو مسؤولية مشتركة و ليست مقتصرة على الهيئات الامنية . كما تهدف الندوة الى تقوية العمل الاجتماعي لدى العسكريين. و ستصبح محطات الشرطة المجتمعية المجاورة فرعا ً من الامن العام و لن يكون هناك تغيير . و ما سيتم تطويره سيكون بناءا ً على توصيات الندوة .
