Hello,
I would be very grateful if someone helped me analysing
poem of This Is My Letter To The World
by
Emily Dickinson
This Is My Letter To The World
This is my letter to the world,
That never wrote to me,
The simple news that Nature told,
With tender majesty.
Her message is committed
To hands I cannot see;
For love of her, sweet countrymen,
Judge tenderly of me!

Emily Dickinson was a recluse and therefore this poem fits to the situation she's buried w/in. She feels she is and outcast from society, from the world...the world has never given her a hand or helped her brave the unknown of which she missed. She relates more to nature than the modern world in which she lived in, she's more tuned to the primitiveness of the long forgotten, the only thing that can ever listen to any soul...
"Her message is committed
To hands I cannot see;
For love of her, sweet countrymen,
Judge tenderly of me!"
Throughout the whole poem the meter has been a 4-3-4, except, L3 she changes the beat from 7-6-7-6 to 7-6-8-6...to me, "for love of her, sweet countrymen" is almost a sarcastic plea to the world...for they have destroyed nature to make what they are today, and they will destroy her the way they destroyed the only thing that listened to her...
The last stanza is almost a hopeless plea..
"
my thoughts :.
this is such a touching piece that screams longing. most poets lay their feeling out for so many to criticize. besides this being a gentle reminder that each one has something worthwhile to say, it is also the reminder that one who may seem as a nobody also speaks of importance. (one that would be deemed insignificant by the masses)
she so typically used the metered rhyme scheme to convey quickly some of her deepest thoughts. this poem is no exception to her styled writing with a dash of hope is still left to the reader
