Overlap the back shoulder over the front shoulder for 10 sts. Weave a strand of the main color through the back of the button. Then sew the button through the front and back shoulder pieces. Tie a knot and weave the yarn tails in on the inside of the vest. I weaved one yarn tail up point B of the front piece and stitch it down to the underside of the back piece to keep in in place.
TRIM:
I used long single crochet stitches for the trim and I couldn't get a clear picture... but don't be scared to try the long single crochet stitches... these are merely the regular single crochet stitches worked in different rows than normal. You can see how these stitches are made via photos on the following
page courtesy of Crochet.About.com :
Holding the bottom of the vest to your left, attach the contrasting color (blue) to the first st on the left front panel at the neckline. Now work the long single crochet trim down the front, around the bottom and back up the other front panel.
You can add any embellishments you want to if you don't like the look of the edging I used by all means... change it. Fasten Off.

Materials: Cotton worsted weight yarn, small amout of ribbon in a matching color, 5.00m crochet hook (am.H/8)
Directions: Chain 28.
Row 1: DC in 3rd chain from hook and in each chain across foundation. (27 dc)
Row 2: * Ch 3 (for first dc), turn, dc in each dc* across.
Row 3 - 14: Repeat from * to * and finish off.

Assembly: When both cloths are made and ends tied in, fold each in half and thread ribbon through second last row, pull the ribbon till the cloth looks like the ruffle on bloomers and tie in a bow . This is the first leg. Repeat with second cloth. Next, thread the ribbon through second row from top, starting with the front and going all the way around joining both cloths. (Cloths will join at center front and center back). Gather this ribbon until it is about the right size to be the waist, tie another bow. Lastly, about the 6th row from the top add one more ribbon to make the fly. (The ribbon goes through only 4 sts. first and last on each leg), tie 4th bow here.

Add this poem and you have yourself a great wedding shower gift or a cute kitchen decoration.

Now don't get excited,
And don't be misled.
These pants aren't for you,
But your kitchen instead.

So when you are finished with thanks and good wishes,
Just untie the ribbons and go do your dishes.

Here is alternate verse sent to me by a visitor to the site:

Don't get excited
And don't get misled
These aren't to wear
But for dishes instead.
So take off the bows
And pull out the stitches,
And you'll have two dishcloths
Instead of the breeches.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Notes:
1) The pattern is created by working alternating rounds of loops and shells (see the abbreviations above for how to work these), with increases at 2 areas of each round. The increase areas form the front and back points of the poncho. As you work, the start/end of the round will appear to move around slowly; this is due to the increases being incorporated into the rounds. Simply work loops or shells as required to reach the start of the round.
2) The "#" and "*" characters are simply pattern instruction markers - as you will see later in the rounds it says "repeat from * xx times more" and "repeat from # x more".
3) Gauge doesn't really matter - this is a loose-fit pattern which is why it fits such a wide age range of children.
Foundation Round: Using M ch 112, sl st to 1st chain to form ring.
Round 1 (loops): Sc in next st, work to end, sl st into 1st loop to join. (28loops made)
Round 2 (shells): Ch3 (counts as 1st dc), 2dc into 1st 4ch space, ch1 (1st shell made), work to end, sl st into top of 1st dc to join. (28 shells made)
Round 3 (loops): # work 13 times (13 loops made), work 2 loops into next ch1 space (1 extra loop worked at front point), rep from # once more (1 extra loop worked at back point), sl st into 1st loop to join. (30 loops made)
Round 4 (shells): Ch3 (counts as 1st dc), 2dc into 1st loop, ch1 (1st shell made), work 1 shell into each of next 14 loops, work 2 shells into next loop (1 extra shell worked at front point), work 1 shell into each of next 14 loops, work 2 shells into next loop (1 extra shell worked at back point), sl st to top of 1st dc to join. (32 shells made)
Round 5 (loops): # work 15 times (15 loops made), work 2 loops into next ch1 space (1 extra loop worked at front point), rep from # once more (1 extra loop worked at back point), sl st into 1st loop to join. (34 loops made)
Round 6 (shells): Ch3 (counts as 1st dc), 2dc into 1st loop, ch1 (1st shell made), work 1 shell into each of next 15 loops, work 2 shells into next loop (1 extra shell worked at front point), work 1 shell into each of next 15 loops, work 2 shells into next loop (1 extra shell worked at back point), sl st to top of 1st dc to join. (increased by 2 shells - 1 at front point & 1 at back point) (36 shells made)
Round 7 (loops): Work until front point is reached, work 2 loops into ch1 space of front point (1 extra loop worked at front point), work until back point is reached, work 2 loops into ch1 space of back point (1 extra loop worked at back point), work until start of round is reached, sl st into 1st loop to join. (38 loops made)
Round 8 (shells): Ch3 (counts as 1st dc), 2dc into 1st loop, ch1 (1st shell made), work 1 shell into next loop until front point is reached, work 2 shells into loop of front point (1 extra shell worked at front point), work 1 shell into next loop until back point is reached, work 2 shells into loop of back point (1 extra shell worked at back point), work 1 shell into next loop until start of round is reached, sl st to top of 1st dc to join. (40 shells made)
Rep Rounds 7 & 8 to continue the increases as set (note the count of loops and shells will increase by 2 after each rep), using the following colour sequence (count from beginning):
• 3 reps (i.e. 6 rounds) of M
• 2 reps (i.e. 4 rounds) of C
• Rep this colour sequence 4 times, then
• Finish off with 3 reps of rounds 7 & 8 using M, followed by 1 rep of Round 7 using M.
• Fasten off and sew in ends.
Note: To adjust the length of the poncho, simply worked more or less reps as above. If you work more reps, more yarn will be required than specified.

Fringe (optional):
• Cut 4 lengths of M, each 5 inches long.
• Hold together and fold in half to form a loop.
• Thread loop from front to back through a 4ch space at the bottom edge of the poncho.
• Pull the ends through the loop and pull tight.
• Rep in every other 4ch space.
• Rep using C in each remaining 4ch space.

Gauge: 4sc=1"
Yarn Thickness: 3mm
Finished Size: =16"x16"
Skill Level: Easy
NOTE: To make this stitch pattern, I use a combination of two stitches. A hdc in one st followed by what I call a (scfbb) which is a single crochet front back bobble. It is made the same way as a fbb from last month but instead of doing the yo first in the stitch work the stitch in the following way.
Single Crochet front back bobble: (scfbb) Insert hook in back lp only of next st. yo, draw up a loop. You will now have 2 lps on hook. Yo, draw through one lp on hook. Now, insert hook in front lp of same stitch from the inside toward you, yo draw up a lp. You should now have 3 lps on hook. Yo and pull through all 3 lps on hook.
ROW 1: Ch 65. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch2, turn.
ROW 2: Hdc in first sc. *Scfbb in next st. Hdc in next st. Rep from * across. You will end with a scbb in the last st. Ch2, turn.
