2nd Row-* Ch 2, 2 d c in some space, sl st in next d c (shell), repeat from * 12 times, ch 2, 2 d c in same space, sl st in base of 1st shell, ch 4, turn (14 shells around sleeve).

Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows until sleeve measures 4 inches from underarm ending with 2nd row, do not ch 4 at end of lost row.

Next Row-Ch 1, s c in some space, * s c in 2nd d c of next shell, s c in sl st between shells, repeat from * 12 times, s c in 2nd d c of next shell, join in 1 st s c, ch 1 to turn all rows. Work 3 more rows in s c, working 1 s c in each s c, cut yarn.

Work other sleeve in same manner.

BEADING-With right side toward you, attach Pink at top of neck and working around neck only, ch 3, skip 1 st, s d c in next st (s d c: yarn over hook, insert in st, pull through, yarn over and pull through all loops at one time), * ch 1, skip 1 st, s d c in next st, repeat from * around neck, cut yarn.

EDGING-With right side toward you, attach White at neck edge and working around neck, * ch 3, d c in some space, skip 1 mesh, s c in next mesh (shell pattern), repeat from * around neck, then work in shell pattern down front, across lower edge and up other front skipping the length of a d c between shells, cut yarn.

Work in shell pattern around lower edge of each sleeve.

Press under a damp cloth. Lace ribbon through beading.

CAP

With Pink ch 5, join to form a ring, ch 1 and work 8 s c in ring, do not join this or the following rounds. Place a marker at beginning of each round.

2nd Round-2 s c in each s c.

3rd Round-Working in s c, increase in every other st, then work 1 round even.

5th Round-Increase in every other st.

6th Round-Increase in every 3rd s c. Work 1 round even.

8th Round-Same as 6th round. Work 2 rounds even.

11th Round-Increase in every 4th st. Work 1 round even, turn.

Next Row-Working in back loop of sts only, work 1 s c in each st across row for turn back, ch 1, turn.

Next 2 Rows-Working through both loops of sts, 1 s c in each s c across each row, ch 1, turn.

Next Row-2 sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in each s c across row working 2 s c in last s c, ch 1, turn.

Repeat last 3 rows twice, cut yarn.

With wrong side toward you, attach Pink in 1st row after turnback and work 44 s c across lower edge to same space at opposite side, sl st in next st, turn. Work 1 s c in each s c, cut yarn.

With right side of turnback toward you, with White work a row of shell st pattern along front and side edges of turnback, cut yarn. Trim with ribbon bows and ties.

BOOTIES

SOLES-With Pink ch 1 8, 3 s d c in 3rd st from hook, 1 s d c in each of the next 1 4 sts of ch, 4 s d c in end ch, working on other side of ch, work 1 s d c in each of the next 14 sts, join.

2nd Row-Ch 2, 2 s d c in some space, 2 s d c in each of the next 3 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 13 sts, 2 s d c in each of the next 5 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 13 sts, 2 s d c in last st, join.

3rd Row-Ch 2, s d c in same space, 2 s d c in each of the next 5 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 16 sts, 2 s d c in each of the next 7 sts, 1 s d c in each remaining st working 2 s d c in last st, join.

4th Row-Ch 2, 1 s d c in each s d c, join.

21st Row-2 s c in each ch 1 mesh, join, ch 5, turn.

Next Row-Repeat 15th row of Cap having 10 shells.

Repeat 14th, 15th and 14th rows of Cap once, cut yarn.

With right side toward you, with White work a row of shell pattern around top of bootie. Lace ribbon through beading. Work other bootie in some manner.

MITTENS

With Pink ch 35, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.

Next Row-1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn. Repeat last row until work measures 2 1/4 inches from the beginning, ch 1, turn.

Next Row-1 s c in each of the next 17 s c, ch 1 to turn all rows.

Next 6 Rows-Working in s c, decrease 1 st at beginning and end of each row, cut yarn. Attach Pink at center and work other half to correspond, cut yarn.

BEADING-Attach Pink on opposite side of foundation ch, ch 4, d c in next st, * ch 1, skip next st, d c in next st, repeat from * across ch, ch 1, turn.

Next Row-Work 1 s c in each d c and 1 s c in each ch 1 space, turn.

Next 2 Rows-Repeat 16th and 17th rows of Sacque. With White work edge same as on Sacque. Fold mitten in half and sew side and top seam. Lace ribbon through beading. Work other mitten in some manner.

MATERIALS

AUNT LYDIA’S® “Baby Denim”, Art. 156, 75% acrylic, 25% cotton (400 yard/365 meter balls).

Amount-Bib: 2 Ounces No. 1082 Baby Blue, small amount No. 1001 White †.

Amount-Shoes: 1 ounce No. 1032 Baby Pink.

Crochet Hooks: 4 mm and 5 mm . Yarn needle, 2 snap sets each for bib and shoes, ribbon rose for bib, sewing needle and thread.



GAUGES: In sc rows: 15 sts = 4"; 20 rows = 4" on larger hook. In sc rnds: 16 sts = 4"; 20 rnds = 4" on smaller hook. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hooks to obtain the gauges given.



BIB

With larger hook and Baby Blue, ch 17.

Row 1 (Right Side): (Hdc, sc) all in 3rd ch from hook, sc in each ch to last ch, (sc, hdc) all in last ch; turn – 17 sts.

Row 2: Ch 2, (hdc, sc) all in first st, sc in each st to last st, (sc, hdc) all in last st; turn – 19 sts.
Rep Row 2 until there are 31 sts. Work even in sc until 7" from beg, end wrong side row.

Divide for Neck: Work across first 12 sc; turn. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 5 rows – 7 sc. Work 6 rows even in sc, end wrong side row.

Decorative buttons
If you normally chain three at beginning of row, then feel free to do so, and chain stitches accordingly. This pattern is very forgiving with how many stitches on each row. I prefer to use only two chains at the beginning of each row, but feel free to do what you feel most comfortable doing.
Row 1 - Starting at neckline, chain 32, dc in third ch from hook. Dc in next 3 dc (dc,ch1,dc) in next ch, *dc in next 6 ch, (dc,ch1,dc) in next ch, repeat from * 2 more times. Dc in last 4 ch, ch 2, turn.
Row 2-3 *dc in each st to ch1 sp. (dc,ch1,dc) in ch 1 sp. Repeat from * 3 times. Dc in each remaining st. ch2 turn.
Row 4 - *Dc in each st to ch 1 sp. (dc,ch1,dc) in ch 1 sp. Repeat from * 3 more times. Dc in each remaining stitch to the end. Ch 2 turn.
Row 5 - *hdc in each st to ch 1 sp (hdc,ch1, hdc) in ch 1 sp. Repeat from * 3 more times. Hdc in remaining st, ch 2 turn.
Row 6 (this row will form the sleeves) Hdc in each st to ch 1 sp. Hdc in ch1 sp, skip ALL sts to next ch 1 sp, hdc in each st to next ch 1 sp. Hdc in ch 1 sp. Skip all sts to next ch 1 sp, hadc in ch 1 sp, hdc in remaining sts to end. Join with sl st. ch 2 (do not turn).

Adding tab between legs
Find middle of opening, count back 4 stitches , join yarn , ch2, hdc in next 8 hdc, chain 2 turn, Add two more hdc rows, finish off. Do same on opposite side, so that tabs are lined up.
Sleeves join yarn underarm, ch 2, dc in each stitch around the sleeve opening (have at least 20 stitches when finished going around opening) ch 2, Work another dc in each stitch around, finish off at end of this row.

Collar
Find the middle of the shoulder (mark with safety pin), do this for each shoulder. Find the middle of the neckline in the front of outfit, again place a safety pin there.
At bottom of opening in back, join yarn, ch 2, hdc to neckline, at corner… ch 2, dc in ch 2 sp., work dc in each st to safety pin at middle of shoulder, remove pin, and do 3 dc in that stitch, continue one dc in each st till two spaces before safety pin in middle of outfit, in the next st , 2 dc, ch 2 , turn
Row 2 - dc in same st as ch 2, dc in each dc across row, making 2 dc in last st, ch 2 turn
Row 3 - dc in same st as ch 2, dc in each dc across row, making 2 dc in last st, ch 2 finish off.

Rejoin yarn at center front to complete second side of collar
Row 1 - Ch 2, dc across to mid shoulder pin dc 3 in stitch marked with the pin - remove the pin. Continue to dc to back edge, ch2 turn.
Row 2 - dc across,ch2 turn.
Row 3 - dc across to corner, at corner ch 1, turn work to finish back opening. Work a half dc in each stitch down back and return up back to other edge.Join and fasten off.

Finishing outfit:
Put one snap at back of neck. Two snaps on each side of tab at crotch. Add decorative buttons, or ribbon tie at neckline.

Hat
Use same yarn as Bubble outfit and same size crochet hook
Chain 5, sl st in first ch to form ring. Rnd 1: ch 2, 12 dc in ring. Join with sl st in top of ch 2, (do not turn ) Rnd 2 ch 2, 2 dc in each dc, join with sl st , Rnd 3 ch 2,* Dc in next 3 dc, 1 inc , repeat from * around, join with slip st. Rnd 4 ch 2 *dc in next 5 dc, 1 inc, repeat from * around, join with slip st. Rnd 5, ch 2 dc in each dc around, join with slip st.
Repeat row 5 til desired length is achieved. Finish off.

Bunting
Use same yarn as bubble outfit, a larger hook may be used if desired Buttons (matching decorative buttons on outfit) Make a granny square, continue in rounds until 25 rows are completed. Finish off. Fold in half to find middle, then bring each side to middle to form bunting. At lower edge sc across both front and back of bunting, finish off. Join yarn at bottom of opening, you can now add a shell edging (six double crochet with sc in between each shell) OR make one or two more rounds of granny square. When finished overlap front edge, space buttons evenly to keep bunting closed.



Bubble Suit Preemie Dress

If you want one smaller, use Sport Weight and a G-hook

I started with the bubble suit, except I did it all in double crochet.
I followed the pattern down to the end of the increases and then dc evenly (no decreases) for the same amount of rows as if you were making the bubble suit.
dc the last row with the contrast color and don't add anything to the sleeves (you will have already done that row with the contrast color).
chain 35, sc across the neck and chain 35 for the ties.
