NOTES

1. Each motif is worked in the round with the RS facing. After first motif, each remaining motif is joined following assembly diagram as the last round is worked. Do not join the center ch-2 space at points of motifs.

2. Country is a strong 6-ply yarn: To reduce bulk and to make knots more secure, before tying knots separate the tail into two 3-ply section by twisting yarn in the opposite direction from which it was spun, pull one 3-ply section through a nearby 6-ply stitch and tie the two 3-ply section together tightly. Weave this tail through four consecutive back loops of the round just completed. After the next round is worked, encasing the yarn tails, trim off any excess.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:

Throw measures approximately 44"/112 cm wide x 56"/142 cm long

GAUGE

Using G-6 (4 mm) hook, Motif A (or B) = 6 1/4" x 6 1/4"/16 x 16 cm.

STITCHES USED

Chain (ch), double crochet (dc), half double crochet (hdc), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (slip st), treble crochet (tr),

SPECIAL TERMS

sc3tog: Single crochet 3 together – Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, (2 loops on hook), twice, yarn over and draw through all 4 loops on hook.

SPECIAL TECHNIQUE

Double-ring method — holding the yarn a few inches from the end, wrap twice around your fingers. Remove rings from fingers and grip two rings and tail firmly between middle finger and thumb. Insert hook through center of ring and draw up a loop. Yarn over and draw through loop on hook. Work stitches of first round in the rings. Pull gently, but firmly, on tail to tighten ring.

NOTES

1. Complete Rounds 1–4 of Motif C before joining to Motifs A and B in Round 5.

2. If desired, Motifs A and B can be joined to each other in manner similar to that used for joining Motif C. Drop the loop of the center tr on Round 6 and 7, respectively, and insert hook in corresponding tr on adjacent Motif, insert hook back into dropped loop and draw it through loop on hook. Continue with instructions to next center tr.

3. To change color when joining a round: insert hook in first stitch of round, yarn over with new color and draw through both loops on hook. Fasten off old color.

4. Weaving in ends as each motif is completed makes finishing much easier.
