Affricates ,
The next group of sounds that we will consider are the affricates. These sounds contain both a stop component and a fricative component. More specifically, the first part of an affricate is produced with complete stoppage of the air stream and is followed by a second part in volving only a partial stoppage of the air stream

Palatal Affricates

Nasals

The sound as in the word 'him'
involves the relatively free passage of air through the vocal cords. Since the space between the vocal cords is called the glottis, the sound is often referred to as a glottal sound. During the production of his sound, the mouth assumes the portion for the following vowels, and the vocal cords are brought together slightly to enhance the sound of the air rushing out from the lungs.
