عندما نستخدم ال apastrophe في الاختصارات فأن ال apastrophe تحل مكان الحروف المحذوفة.

عندما يكون معنى it's = ضمير للملكية فلا نستخدم ال apastrophe

لكي نقرر المكان المناسب لوضع ال apastrophe نسأل :

ونضع ال apastrophe بعده مباشرة
في المثال اعلاه ... إذا سألت

إذا كان عندي مالك الشي إسم جمع فأن ال apastrophe تلي ال s
فيما يلي بعض النقاط التي بجب الانتباه إليها:
1- إذا كان إسم المالك ينتهي ب s فلا حاجة لاضافة s الملكية ونكتفي بوضع ال apastrophe فقط

نفس الامر ينطبق إذا كان الاسم عندي في الجمع.
2- إذا كانت صيغة الجمع للكلمة تختلف تماما عن صيغته المفردة ، عامل الكلمة على انها مفرد ثم نضيف ال apastrophe before the s

3- في حالة الاسماء المركبة واسمين لهما مالك مشترك فأن الكلمة الاخيرة فقط هي التي يستخدم معها ال apastrophe
